Joanne Lau has been appointed as Secretary-General of HKIAC, with her term to begin 26 February 2024. Joanne is currently a partner at Allen & Overy, and will become the fourth successive female Secretary-General of HKIAC. A Hong Kong native, Lau is qualified in Hong Kong and England & Wales and speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin.  She served as co-chair of the HKIAC’s HK45 Committee from 2020 to 2022 and also sits on the HKIAC Proceedings Committee. At Allen & Overy, Joanne advises on treaty and commercial cases, across multiple jurisdictions, sectors and arbitral rules, and also sits as arbitrator.
