FundHer - Women & Legal Finance

The pilot edition of FundHer - Women & Legal Finance is an intimate breakfast gathering designed to bring together female in-house counsel for meaningful conversation, connection, and community. This morning meet-up is all about sharing insights, real talk around legal finance, and celebrating the power and perspective that women bring to the legal profession.

The first edition will focus on practical insights into litigation funding – what it really is, how it works in practice, and how it can be used. Topics we’ll cover include:
- What litigation funding actually looks like – the basics, process, and when it makes sense.
- Funding and litigation insurance: How they fit together, and what distinguishes them.
- Common misconceptions: Addressing concerns such as cost, control, and disclosure.
- Real-world examples: Lessons learned from actual cases.

Date: November 20, 2025 Time: 8:30-9:00am Check-In & Networking | Session 9:00-10:00AM Title: Power, Gatekeepers, and Representation: Who Really Shapes Arbitration? Program Description: This session explores how institutions pave the way forward re appointing more women to panels (i.e., investing efforts to appoint a variety of females including non-partners to build the pipeline). We’ll also explore the double trouble women and diverse attorneys often face if not (yet) partners — receiving fewer or no appointments, and in parallel, not considered for partnership as early or as often as male counterparts.  A focus will be on how the role of arbitrator must be separated from the partner’s role, as the skills are distinct. Themes to be explored include gender bias & discrimination, work-life balance (and availing oneself of modified work schedules to balance family), leadership gaps, and pay disparities. Registration via NYAW2025 site.
