Lawyering Plus – Thought Leadership & Career Development for Lawyers

How can lawyers build visibility, credibility, and a stronger professional profile through writing and speaking without it feeling abstract or performative?

In this upcoming Lawyering Plus webinar, Naomi Briercliffe, Partner in the International Dispute Resolution practice at Squire Patton Boggs, will take part in a moderated discussion with Svetlana Portman (Lawyering Plus; Debevoise & Plimpton) on how lawyers can develop their voice and reputation as thought leaders. The conversation will focus on practical, experience-based approaches to thought leadership, particularly in the context of international disputes, including identifying a niche, pursuing writing opportunities and collaborations, and using speaking engagements to support long-term career and business development.

The session will conclude with a live audience Q&A.

The event  will be held on 26 February, with an expected capacity of around 55 attendees.

This will be the second edition of our event focused on Women in Construction Arbitration. As in the previous edition, our goal is to bring together female lawyers, arbitrators, and experts for a discussion panel addressing key topics in the field.

The main objectives are to:

-Inspire new generations of women in arbitration
-Discuss gender-related progress and challenges
-Share professional experiences
-Promote networking opportunities
-Provide technical analysis of arbitration issues from a female perspective

We believe this would be a wonderful opportunity for AW to strengthen its presence in Madrid and participate in an initiative that aligns closely with the organization’s mission.

This program brings together leaders from across the mining and arbitration communities for practical, forward-looking discussions on the issues shaping the sector. We are especially excited about the depth of experience our speakers will bring to the conversations, as our faculty includes speakers from DPM Metals, Anglo-American, Thesis Gold, and others. Topics include OEM offtake agreements, industrial and small-scale mining operations and environmental stewardship, and enforcement of awards and related developments. We are also proud to say that the program will include The Young Lawyers Roundtable presented by Young ITA. The conference will offer a valuable opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, exchange ideas, and engage in thoughtful discussion on the evolving challenges facing the mining sector, while also taking in the beautiful city of Toronto.
