BVI International Arbitration Centre
The BVI International Arbitration Centre (BVI IAC) is an independent not-for-profit institution, established to meet the demands of the international business community for a neutral, impartial, efficient and reliable dispute resolution institution in the Caribbean, Latin America and beyond. The Arbitration Act, through which the BVI largely adopted the UNCITRAL Model Law, and the BVI’s accession to the New York Convention on 25 May 2014, are crucial steps, which made possible the establishment of a viable and internationally respected arbitration centre in the BVI. A well run and well equipped ‘state of the art’ centre, together with the acknowledged quality of the BVI legal framework and the stable political environment offered by a British Overseas Territory, should enable the BVI to rapidly become a leading arbitration hub in Latin America, the Caribbean and beyond.
Dispute Resolution Data
Dispute Resolution Data (DRD) enhances and expands the field of dispute resolution through access to trusted aggregated data which maintains confidentiality, while providing insights into practices and trends for parties, dispute resolution institutions, advocates, arbitrators, mediators, researchers and policy makers. DRD does not request or publish any information from institutions regarding parties’ identity, the names of the case, the advocates, the arbitrators or mediators, the substance of the award, nor associate institutions’ names with their data. DRD data is extracted from international commercial arbitrations and mediations that have final awards, or agreements, and from cases settled, or withdrawn. This data is redacted, aggregated and presented by geographic region and by case type. Attorneys benefit from DRD in multiple ways, including, but not limited to drafting pre-dispute clauses, advising clients, developing case strategies, estimating cost budgets, research for institutions and scholars. We envision a world that understands the value of arbitration and mediation data through the availability and application of data.

SWAN Swedish Women in Arbitration Network
The Swedish Women in Arbitration Network (SWAN) is a professional network for women with an interest in arbitration. SWAN focuses on providing a platform for knowledge building and learning how to play the game. SWAN is, as the name indicates, based in Sweden and welcomes members from any country. Sweden has a long tradition of agreeing to resolve disputes by arbitration. Building on this tradition, Sweden has established itself as a preferred seat in international arbitration. Sweden is known for being a neutral, transparent and safe seat with a well-advanced arbitration law and arbitration friendly courts. Swedish counsel and arbitrators are labeled as being professional and knowledgeable people with high integrity. Given Sweden’s strong position in arbitration and its emphasis on equality, it comes as no surprise that the SCC is the first arbitral institution to promote a network for women. A typical SWAN year will include a panel debate, after works, a number of inspirational lunches and a practical seminar. In addition to events, SWAN has a mentorship program which runs over the course of a year.
