Kathryn specialises in Dispute Advisory Services including providing privileged advice, as an Expert Witness in litigation and international arbitration, and as an Expert Determiner.

Kathryn has a degree in Mathematics. She trained with Deloitte Haskins & Sells (now PwC) and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1979. In 1990 she joined BDO, where she became an audit partner (until 2005) and a forensic partner, eventually becoming the UK National Head of Forensic Accounting. She joined KPMG in 2010 where she was Chairman of KPMG Forensic UK until 2016 and is now a Managing Director at AlixPartners.

Kathryn has 40 years’ experience in the accounting profession. For the last 24 years her focus has been in expert witness and dispute advisory services in particular pre-action advice, litigation support and alternative dispute resolution including mediation, arbitration and expert determination. She has also undertaken many forensic investigations.

Kathryn’s industry experience is very broad and includes, natural resources, construction, financial services, retail and consumer goods, travel manufacturing, telecoms, professional services, pharmaceuticals, hospitality, and the public sector.

Kathryn is one of the UK’s most senior and experienced accountancy expert witnesses, having written hundreds of reports and given oral evidence on many occasions. She has extensive experience in high profile, international cases where she has acted for both claimants and defendants.

Kathryn is regularly appointed jointly by parties as an Expert Determiner and is a member of the scheme under which Expert Determiners are appointed by the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (the ICAEW).

Kathryn is particularly known for her keen analytical mind. Her wealth of experience, and ability to identify and articulate the critical issues, have enabled her to provide clear and robust testimony and also to assist with many pre-action exchanges that have resulted in successful and significant settlements outside the courts. Kathryn’s many years’ experience as an auditor, and her current audit and accounting knowledge, mean that she is well placed to identify and assess the key issues that are relevant in considering causation and quantum

Kathryn is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in England and Wales and a Fellow of the Academy of Experts. She is past Chair of the Audit Committee of the ICAEW and has been a member of the ICAEW Council (its ultimate governing body) since 2013.

Marzia worked in Studio Legale Tributario in association with EY (Italy) from 2008 to 2019, being head of the Milan litigation department from 2011. In 2017 became an associate member of the firm until 2019, when she founded her personal litigation boutique (Studio Legale Scura) in Milan.

Tina is in on the panels/rosters of the CPR, AAA, FINRA, and Dispute Resolution Boards.

Tinais a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) North America Branch (NAB)and serves as the Communications Vice Chair. She is also a member of ArbitalWomen, International Association of Facilitators (IAF), Mid Atlantic Facilitators Network (MAFN) She serves on the Leadership Advisory Council of Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP), is a Commissioner with Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission (MNCPPC) and is Commissioner with the Montgomery County Maryland Remembrance and Reconciliation Commission. She has been featured in several publications including the Association for Conflict Resolution‘s ACResolution magazine, the U.S. Geospatial Foundation's Trajectory magazine the George Washington University's Center for Excellence in Public Leadership newsletter, as well as the American Bar Association Section of Dispute Resolution Just Resolutions newsletter.
