María Carolina Durán has joined Baker Botts as a special counsel, effective 3 August 2023. María Carolina’s practice focuses on international dispute settlement, particularly investment treaty arbitration and international commercial arbitration. Fluent in Spanish and English, she has extensive experience representing cross-border investors and States across various economic sectors, including electricity, mining, oil and gas, real estate, and infrastructure development. Notable successes include representing three Latin American States in various investor-state arbitrations with a total of US $55 billion in claims.
