Dr. Ilka Beimel was recently awarded the German Arbitration Institute DIS Sponsorship Award for her book on Independence and Impartiality in International Commercial Arbitration on 20 June 2022. Every two years, an outstanding academic work in the field of alternative dispute resolution authored by a young academic receives the DIS Sponsorship Award from the German Arbitration Institute. Ilka is a German qualified lawyer specialised in international arbitration and international sales law. She regularly acts as tribunal secretary, and holds a PhD in international commercial arbitration from the University of Basel (Switzerland) and was Rapporteur for the CISG Advisory Council.
