Anna Förstel-Cherng was recently re-appointed as Deputy Secretary General of the Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC), after returning from maternity leave, effective 1 September 2025. Before joining VIAC in 2018, she worked with Binder Grösswang and Baker McKenzie Vienna, advising clients in complex commercial disputes before state courts and arbitral tribunals. She holds an LL.M. from the University of Pennsylvania and Mag. iuris from the University of Vienna. Anna serves on the Advisory Board of Young Austrian Arbitration Practitioners (YAAP) and co-chairs the Arbitration Summer Retreat. She actively contributes to the arbitration community through frequent speaking engagements and academic publications.
Each year ArbitralWomen provides support to a number of Teams who participate in dispute resolution competitions, such as the Vis or Vis East International Arbitration Moot by covering their registration fee.
