Annual Moot Alumni Association International Commercial Law & Arbitration Conference

The Moot Alumni Association is delighted to invite you to the ​​Annual MAA International Commercial Law & Arbitration Conference, taking place in Vienna on 11 April 2025

Serving as a prelude to the Vis Moot, the conference will feature esteemed academics and practitioners discussing topical issues in international arbitration and trade law linked with this year’s Vis Moot Problem.

The event will be kicked off by Welcome Addresses from Mr Leon Kopecky and tDr Christian Johannes Wahnschaffe. 

The conference includes a special Keynote Address from Mr Henrik Sajakorpi, Secretary General of the Finland Arbitration Institute (FAI), who will share his unique insights on the topic “Nordic Arbitration: A View From Within”.

The conference will start with an exciting interview as part of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration’s Preserving Perspectives Project, with Dr Dr Crina Baltag, Prof Ingeborg Schwenzer (interviewee), and Prof Edgardo Muñoz (interviewer).

The next panel will consider “Navigating Multi-Tiered Dispute Resolution Clauses” and feature Mr Michael Mcilwrath, Ms Victoria Pernt, Mr Giorgio Sassine, Ms Tuuli Timonen, and Ms İpek İnce (moderator).

The last session will be a discussion on “Finding the Core: Determining the ‘Preponderant Part’ of Complex Transactions under the CISG” between Prof Lauro Gama, Prof Olaf Meyer, Ms Venus Valentina Wong, Ms Maria Irene Perruccio Lourie, and Mr Salih Kartal (moderator).

The day will be closed with final remarks by Mısra Yalçın, followed by a networking reception.

The conference is hosted by the Vienna office of Schoenherr.  Attendess can purchase tickets here at 15 EUR for Premium MAA Members and Students and 25 EUR for Standard and Non-MAA Members.
