ArbitralWomen Mourns the Recent Passing of Nicole Dolenz (1976-2025), Partner at Orrick

Nicole Dolenz was an international arbitration practitioner and partner at Orrick in Geneva with nearly 20 years of experience. She was a renowned practitioner in the United States, Paris, and Geneva, where she handled complex international commercial and investment arbitration matters for large international corporate clients, states, and state-owned entities. She had particular expertise in the energy, infrastructure and construction sectors.

In February, Nicole passed away in her Haute Savoie mountain home alongside her husband and two young boys, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. The arbitration community mourns her loss most deeply,

During her 20 years of experience, Nicole worked at some of the top international arbitration practices worldwide. Following her studies at the University of Vienna Law School in her native Austria, Nicole pursued a LL.M. at the University of San Diego School of Law in Comparative Law. She began working in arbitration as an associate in the Vienna lawfirm Siemer Siegel Fureder Partners. She later joined Baker McKenzie in New York, working closely with Grant Hanessian. In 2012, she joined Jones Day in Paris where she spent seven years, first as Counsel, then as Of Counsel, working alongside Michael Bühler. She then moved to Orrick in Paris where she joined the partnership, and later worked out of Orrick’s Geneva office.

Nicole has touched the lives of so many members of the international ArbitralWomen community, including as a dear friend, colleague, and mentor to current and former board members. Memorial services will be held in Samoëns, Vienna, and Paris.
