Juliana has over fourteen years of experience in international arbitration.
She has acted as expert observer before the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), for Working Groups II and III, devoted to mediation and international arbitration.
During her time at Uría Menéndez, she acted as counsel in domestic and international arbitrations. She has ample experience as counsel in complex disputes involving construction and engineering (applying FIDIC Rules), energy and technology. As counsel, she took part in arbitration proceedings involving multiple jurisdictions, applying the CISG, Namibian, Swiss, Argentinian, and Spanish law, conducted under the rules of some of the most prominent arbitration courts such as the ICC, the Madrid Court of Arbitration and the Civil and Commercial Court of Arbitration.
After joining the Secretariat of the Madrid Court of Arbitration, she supervised over 200 proceedings and scrutinised over 180 awards involving disputes from a wide range of sectors (banking and finance, energy, construction, and engineering) and legal areas (M&A, corporate law, oil and gas, agency, distribution, and shipping).
Currently, Juliana combines teaching with her collaboration in complex cases acting as arbitrtaor or counsel.
