The Fourth VIAC CAN Congress: Cultivating Ideas into Impact
On 13 February 2026, the Fourth Vienna International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) Community Ambassador Network (VIAC CAN) successfully took place in Vienna, Austria. The rooms were full, the energy was vibrant, and the discussions delivered truly fresh perspectives on the evolving arbitration landscape.
Conference Highlights
A standout moment was the keynote address by John Fellas on “The Arbitrator in the Age of AI” — delivered with remarkable style and insight. A timely reminder that there is still much to explore about the role of AI in arbitration. ArbitralWomen Board Director Niamh Leinwather and Eveli Lume spoke at the conference.
This year introduced a dynamic presentation concept that quickly became a crowd favourite: "CANversations: VIAC´s 20x20 Vision". Speakers navigated strict timing rules while presenting their visions for the future of arbitration using only visuals — and yes, even GIFs! Engaging, thought-provoking, and refreshingly different.
The Congress tradition continued with an unforgettable Gala Dinner at one of Vienna’s most magnificent venues, the Austrian National Library, elevated by the elegant live performance of a string quartet.
We are already looking forward to the next Congress! Tickets traditionally sell out quickly — and this year proved no exception. Stay tuned: the dates for the next edition will be announced shortly.
