Kate Brown de Vejar, a former member of the Steering Committee of YAWP, has been appointed as Co-Chair of the IBA’s Recognition and Enforcement of Arbitral Awards Subcommittee with effect from 1 January 2020. Based in Mexico City, Kate is a partner and global co-chair of international arbitration at DLA Piper LLP. She also acts as an arbitrator. Kate’s practice includes commercial and investment disputes, with particular focus on the construction, financial services, oil and gas, mining, transport and telecoms sectors. Kate is qualified in New York and Australia and speaks three languages. She has represented Australia at UNCITRAL Working Group II meetings on arbitration and conciliation and is a vice president of the ANZMEX business council. Kate is recognized by Who’s Who Legal as a leading arbitration practitioner and thought leader (2019).
