Annual Moot Alumni Association International Commercial Law & Arbitration Conference

The Moot Alumni Association of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (MAA) is hosting its Annual International Commercial Law & Arbitration Conference on Friday, 27 March 2026 at the Vienna offices of Schoenherr. 

As a staple of the Vis Moot competitions and a longstanding event, the conference brings together internationally renowned and distinguished speakers to address hot topics in international arbitration and trade law, focusing on topics related to the Vis Moot problem.

The conference will feature:

  • Welcome Address from Marina Stanisavljevic (Counsel, Schoenherr) and Prof. Dr. Navin Ahuja (Associate, HANEFELD | Vice President, Moot Alumni Association)
  • Keynote Address from Lucy Reed (President, SIAC Court | Independent Arbitrator) on "The Importance of Focus in International Arbitration"
  • A panel discussion with the topic "Fear of the funded: Procedural, substantive and ethical implications of third-party funding in international arbitration" with Grace Cheng (Barrister & Arbitrator, 39 Essex Chambers), Dr. Jörn Eschment (Managing Director, Burford Capital), Dr. Alice Fremuth-Wolf (Counsel, Paragon), Prof. Catherine Rogers (Professor, Bocconi University), Dr. Malte Stübinger (General Counsel Germany, Deminor Litigation Funding), moderated by Sabine Supper (Associate, Schoenherr)
